1. Network config with AT Commands
Request a serial port or other interaction interface to enter the SSID or password.
Although it is simple to configure the network through the serial AT command, but the serial port input is needed, generally it’s necessary to provide a interaction interface on the microcontroller system.
2. WeChat Air-Kiss network config
A. The Wi-Fi module only can be configured the network with the router connected already to the Internet.
It is not possible to configure the network through WeChat Air-Kiss for LAN routers that are not connected to the Internet. The mobile phone must be able to connect to the WeChat server, which is the Internet, and the router must be the one that the mobile phone is connected to.
B. Complete network config, low rate of success
WeChat Air-Kiss or other simple network config methods adopts a broadcast packet capture method similar to sniff. Therefore, for some Wi-Fi module with low performance, the success rate of network config through WeChat Air-Kiss is also very low.
C. Additional buttons or other interfaces is requested to guide the module to switch between smart network config mode and normal operating mode.
Use Air-kiss or other smart network config methods, need to guide the Wi-Fi module into the smart network config mode. So, it may be necessary to leave an input such as a button on the single-chip system so that the Wi-Fi module can switch between normal operation and smart network config mode. Or, in a certain stage (for example, the initial waiting for 20 seconds at startup) as the stage of smart network config, users can configure the network, it’s realizable but not very flexible, there might be new problems.
D. Generally the network cannot be configured through a computer.
3. Other Smart Config methods
A. Generally, an additional APP needs to be installed on the user’s mobile phone.
Through other Smart Config methods, although it may not be necessary to connect to the Internet through WeChat, it is also requested to install a separate APP on the mobile phone (to save the WeChat APP application).
B. The APP generally is developed by a module supplier, one for Android and another for iOS, need to be prepared. In addition, users are required to download and install the APP.
Like the above-mentioned WeChat Air-kiss network config, there are the same limitations.
(1) Complete network config, low rate of success
(2) Additional buttons or other interfaces is requested to guide the module to switch between smart network config mode and normal operating mode.
(3) Generally the network cannot be configured through a computer.
4. Network config through the embedded WEB server
A. Only need a mobile phone that supports Wi-Fi with a browser to connect to the AP hotspot that comes with the Wi-Fi module, then you can link to the embedded WEB server, open a configurable WEB page, and connect to other routers for network config.
B. The network config is simple and easy to succeed.
C. The router or hotspot that can be configured could be connected to the Internet or not connected to the Internet.
D. There is no need to add other interfaces such as buttons or serial ports on the system, just configure the network through the Wi-Fi interface of the module.
E. The Wi-Fi module can be configured not only through mobile phones, but also through computers or other smart terminals (as long as you can connect to Wi-Fi and open the web page).
